Forestview Winter Guard/Band for ONLY $15.00 each.

These plants come in a 6 ½” pot with a height of 17”-19” tall.

They are available in Red, White, and Pink.

All orders and money must be returned by Nov. 22^nd.

They will be available for pickup on Dec. 4^th.

Gracin's mom, Amanda Simmons has set up a quick fundraiser for us. We realize that there is a quick turnaround to get these orders in, but it is a great opportunity. We will make $8 for each plant sold. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Amanda or me.

BAND PLACEMENT AUDITIONS TODAY(COUNTS AS A PLAYING TEST)

All Students should be practicing daily. Everyday students receive home work. Please help in making sure all students are doing their assignments at home. (They should be practicing their fundamental warm ups for tone/sound. They should be practicing all band music with a metronome.)

Monday and Tuesday will be placement auditions for our 3rd and 4th period spring bands. This will also count as playing test. All 9th-12th grade students will be evenly placed in 3rd and 4th period band in the spring. Only students who are enrolled in the fall have this opportunity to audition for the wind ensemble. Both ensembles in the spring will learn the same music and combine on a spring concert.

All wind players (Brass/Woodwinds) will be responsible for sight reading and all 12 major scales.

All Percussion students will be responsible for sight reading, 12 major scales and the first 10 rudiments from vic firth.(open and closed) Percussion students will only play the rudiments if they would like to try out for snare,bass and timpani. Fruit Sale is Going on NOW - November 17th

Students Should Be Practicing Daily

All Students should be practicing daily. Everyday students receive home work. Please help in making sure all students are doing their assignments at home. (They should be practicing their fundamental warm ups for tone/sound. They should be practicing all band music with a metronome.)

Parade On Friday

The Veterans Day Parade is upon us. This year the parade is Friday, November 10th. This is Forestview's year to host the parade. This parade is mandatory of all band members.

The band is to report to the band room at 8am to put uniforms on and load the buses.

The Forestview band will begin to warm up next to the shrimp boat in downtown Gastonia at 8:30am.

This Friday is 8th grade night. We will tailgate at 5:30pm.

8th Grade Night Rehearsal and Performance Information

The annual 8th grade night is an opportunity for all 8th grade band members to experience the Forestview High School Marching Jaguars. We will prepare music to play in the stands with the Marching Jags on the November 3rd football game against Stewart Cramer.

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 3RD

5:30-6:30 Before the Game:

The 8th grade band will meet in the Forestview High School band room. Please pull in to the main entrance of the school. The band room door will be open with members ready to greet you and your future marching jaguar! Dinner will be provided for our “band tail gate” before the game. It will consist of hotdogs, chips and a drink. All parents and students are welcome to come. All students will need to bring their instrument and music. All students will enter the stadium for free. Admission for parents into the game is $6.

6:30-7:00 Students will rehearse in the band room.

7:30-9:30ish During the Game:
The 8th grade band will march in with us and perform with the high school pep-band during the duration of the football game in the stands. They will also perform the national anthem before the game with the band. All parents are encouraged to sit together as a show of support for the band students.

Half-time:
The 8th grade band will watch the Forestview High School Marching Jags perform their 2017 marching band show entitled “Conquer” After the performance all students will have the 3rd quarter to visit with friends/family and get something to eat or drink at the concession stands.

After the game:
Students will march back to the band room and put away their instrument. Parents please pick up your child outside the band room. (Around 9:40pm in the front of the school). What to Wear Forestview school colors!! (White or Black) with jeans, tennis/athletic shoes (for rehearsal AND performance); it is also recommended you bring a sweat shirt or jacket. (Also in school colors if you have it). It may be cool so we want them to be comfortable during the game. (Dress for the weather)

We know that this will be a fun activity for everyone and we look forward to a fantastic evening. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.

Music For ALL (BOA) Winston Salem

We will rehearse on Friday from 1pm-4pm.

Students will load the buses for BOA around 5:45pm we will leave at 6pm. They can go home after practice and come back or stay through until we leave.

We will stop for dinner on the way to Winston Salem. When we arrive at the hotel students are expected to follow all Gaston County rules and regulations.

Wake up time will be 5am for all students Saturday morning. We will leave the hotel at 5:45am to go to BB&T Field at Wake Forest University.

Warm Up Time is 6:25am

The Band Performs at 7:30am.

Stadium gates open to the public at 7:00am. There is a $10 charge for spectator parking. Day Pass is $27. Prelim Tickets are $18 per person.

Prelim Awards are at 4:45pm.

The band boosters will be providing lunch at 11:30am for our band students.

BOA fees are past due and band fees are due October 15th. Currently, we have $5946.00 in outstanding fees. It is critical these fees are paid so the band can continue to pay operating expenses. Invoices for unpaid fees will be provided to Mr. Gibson on Nov 1st to meet with students. Thank you.

Set Up Today at 4pm for Jag Classic

JC: Parents will begin setting up for the Jaguar Classic (JC) at 4:00 PM at the stadium.Please come if you can. We need people to bring lawn blowers to clean the stadium. We blow all of the trash out of the stadium and press box. The press box gets cleaned (windows, chairs, tables) along with the area around concessions. We set up all tents, tables, chairs, trashcans, etc.

Bake Sale items should be packaged for individual sale. You are allowed to make baked goods at home. You may purchase store items if you aren't a baker. If making cookies, please package 3-4 small or 1-2 large in Ziploc bags. If your item contains nuts, please leave a note with your item. You may send items into the band room on Friday or bring them to the stadium Bake Sale table on Saturday. You can send your items in a box, bag, or tray. Throw away items are best.

At the conclusion of setup, approximately 6:00-6:30 PM, we will have a parent session in the band room to discuss jobs for the next day. If this is your first time helping, you are working a new job, or you just want a refresher, please join us in the band room. We are still in need of people to pull trailers and work other jobs. Contact Mr. Gibson or a Booster Member if you need to sign up for a job.
